Michael Murphy

Private Wealth Advisor

My Role:

Mike’s practice centers around assisting prosperous professionals, entrepreneurs and executives achieve their Retirement, Investment, Risk Management and Estate Distribution goals through our comprehensive financial planning process.

Work History:

Since 2018, I have been using my passion for investment and financial planning to help clients so they can focus on their life and life’s work. Prior to becoming a Private Wealth Advisor, I spent 19 successful years as a HR leader and consultant with global organizations such as Ernst & Young, BP, Interpublic Group, and ETRADE. It is this experience of having worked closely on the compensation and benefit plans of these companies that I can provide insight for many professionals and executives. I have worked in 10 countries around the world and that has led to a truly global perspective on everything from travel to money.

Where I Come From:

I was born in Omaha and raised in western Illinois until my teenage years when I moved to the Chicago area.  After college, I returned to Chicago for graduate school, where I met my wife, Karen.  We lived in Chicago and the western suburbs for over a decade before moving to Phoenix, AZ.  Karen and I are blessed to have a wonderful daughter and two fun loving dogs. We have been in the desert since 2013 and outside of a few hot months, we love it here.  I am an avid runner and I have a passion for food, wine and travel.

Education:

I have been fortunate to earn a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska and a Masters degree from Loyola University Chicago's Quinlan School of Business.

My WHY:

Let's be honest - a lack of planning is at the core of some serious problems in our world. Wouldn't it be nice to have a plan that allows you to focus on who you love and what you love to do? I came to this profession to help you with your financial life so you can focus on your impact in your family, your company, and your community. This is the type of planning in which we are experts.

Community Engagement:

Our family is involved in our community in many ways both personally and financially.  I am a volunteer and member of Homeless Engagement Lift Partnership (HELP) Elite 100, a group of community leaders who pledge their financial and leadership support to feed homeless students in the Valley.  Additionally, I volunteer at our church and provide pro bono financial advice for people struggling with their finances.  My wife, Karen, sits on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) of the Southwest. Even our daughter has gotten involved in outreach as well by volunteering with the Special Needs Ministry at our church.
